The Winter Warm Up Pickleball Tournament, organized by Base to Pickle Inc., offered an exceptional day filled with enthusiasm, competition, and a sense of the South Florida pickleball community. With divisions for men, women, and mixed teams, all rated between 3.0 and 3.5, and comprising 10 teams each, the event captivated attendees from beginning to end. And guess what? It was all DUPR rated, making every game count and every point exciting!

Everything Ran Smoothly

The tournament ran very smoothly with the round-robin format. There were 10 courts, and they managed to keep games rolling all day without a hitch. There was no confusion on which court to go to or where the next match would be. Players were able to hydrate and stretch right up until their next match.
A tournament match on Riverside's challenge court
These prizes were thought of by pickleballers for pickleballers. Winners got these awesome medals and raffle winners won pickleball bags & shoes from Tyrol, and some high-quality paddles. The prize that stuck out to me the most was the slam master and slam master pro. It felt like they really put thought into the rewards, making winning feel even sweeter.

Vendors For Pickleballers

There were no vendors that just took up space. Stretch Lab and Hot Worx were on hand, which was great for a quick stretch or workout. Then you had Crown Pickleball products, and Rokne paddles to demo, and support from the National Pickleball League. It was like a mini expo for pickleball lovers.

Spot-On Venue and Cheerful Crowds

Playing at Riverside Park was the best choice. Base to Pickle took full advantage of Riverside’s 10 courts and space. Vendors were easy to get to and out of the way of playing. The weather was perfect, and there was plenty of room for everyone to navigate around and for folks to watch and cheer. There was such a good turnout of people watching and supporting, which made the atmosphere even more energetic and fun. It’s something about having a crowd cheering that just lifts the whole experience.

Looking Forward to the Next One

After such a great time at the Winter Warm Up, I’m really hoping Base to Pickle Inc. makes this an annual event. It was more than just playing pickleball; it was about hanging out, meeting new people, and really enjoying the day. The mix of solid organization, cool prizes, and the awesome spot with supportive spectators made the day fly by. I’m definitely looking forward to hitting more tournaments like this one.
